ASSOS - On numerous occasions whilst driving along the west coast and heading north we were compelled to stop and admire the awesome beauty of Myrtos beach. perhaps the most photographed in Greece. Just a short distance ahead is one of the most beautiful landscapes in Kefalonia, a deep valley which narrows at sea level and at the far end a castle atop a small mountain towering majestically over the tiny village of Assos. During one such journey we left the main road and headed down to look at the village. What we saw impressed us immensely and unquestionably many of our clients would be delighted by the perfect setting of extraordinary peace and quiet.

Assos is a picturesque small fishing village overlooked by the ruins of a Venetian fortress dating from 1595. The fortress commands breathtaking views of the western coast of Kefalonia and down as far as Myrtos beach. It is an ideal spot for birdwatchers and magnificent sunsets can also be viewed from this point. The village of around a hundred inhabitants contains some fine examples of Venetian architecture commonly found on Kefalonia before the devastation of the 1953 earthquake. The area around the horseshoe harbour with its pebble beach also serves as the main village square and is officially known as Paris Square, acknowledgement of the help given by France in rebuilding the village after the earthquake. Poplar and plane trees provide wonderful shade and at springtime there are dazzling displays of tropical flowers around the little fishing port. Situated in the village and around the harbour are four tavernas, a bar, and a minirmarket.
If you ever get the urge to leave the peace behind for a day, the options are either the capital town of Argostoli to the south or the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the harbour area at Fiscardo to the north. Assos still retains the charm and atmosphere of a true Greek village and with only a handful of visitors each year the ambience and tranquillity will surely remain for years to come.

THE VILLAS - These modern villas built and furnished to a high standard are situated on the tip of the headland overlooking the bay with magnificent views across to the Venetian fortress of Assos. The three villas, all in a row, have a light and airy feel, they are tastefully furnished in neutral colours and have terracotta flooring throughout.

Just a few minutes’ stroll takes you down to the harbour and the small pebble beach and whilst the tavernas and the mini-market are all within 400 metres, the accommodation is built on a steep hill and is not suitable for people with limited mobility. The two end villas are virtually identical and consist of three bedrooms each, whereas the villa in the middle consists of two bedrooms. There are a number of features which are common to the three villas. Each has a satellite TV and DVD/CD player, fully equipped kitchen with a full cooker, microwave oven, toaster, kettle and all have a washing machine. Each has private fresh water swimming pool at the front and for privacy there is a wall separating the terraces and the swimming pool. Even though there is a pergola shading part of the terrace area around the swimming pool, some sections are overlooked by the neighbouring first floor window.

VILLAS AKROGIALI & MAISTRALI - 2-5 persons - air conditioned - car included private -swimming pool
The three bedroom villas are built on different levels. The sitting/dining room is on the ground floor with arched French windows opening onto a large terrace with table and chairs for dining al fresco. Steps lead down from the terrace to the fresh-water swimming pool with poolside loungers and a gazebo for shade. A few steps up from the living room to the mezzanine level where there is a fully-fitted kitchen, and a small bathroom with shower (no shower tray). Stairs from this level lead to the next floor where there is a double bedroom. Although the dressing table is within the bedroom, the space is limited, so the wardrobe is cleverly located in the space under the stairs in the hallway. This room has a balcony with fantastic views in all direction. At the next level and facing the rear of the house is the second bedroom with two single beds and also a bathroom with shower. The third bedroom that has a double bed is in the spacious attic space. This room enjoys stunning views from the front facing window.

VILLA PALATSINA - 2-4 persons - air conditioned - car included - private swimming pool
This is a two-bedroomed terraced villa located inbetween the three bedroomed villas and it is built on three levels.On the ground floor there is a comfortable and very spacious living/dining room with an open plan fully fitted kitchen (with dishwasher) at one end. Off this room there is also a small bathroom with shower. Direct access from the living room through an arched french window to the spacious terrace with magnificent views in every direction. This terrace covers the full width of the house and there is a second access to it from the kitchen area. From this terrace, steps lead down
to the private swimming pool with poolside loungers and a gazebo for shade. From the living area, a central staircase leads up to the first floor bedrooms, one twin and one double, and a bathroom with bath and shower. The twin bedroom has a sea facing window but the other bedroom a balcony with stunning views of the sea and the castle. These villas rate amongst some of the best in Kefalonia, and as one would expect with villas of this quality, daily light cleaning is provided and the linen is changed three times per week.
