Remetzo Villas

We are constantly seeking additions to our programme and are pleased to have secured these brand new villas, located on a sandy beach, each with their own pool and enjoying uninterrupted sea views. Properties located in the 'Old Greece' yet with all modern amenities are a rare find, and we are sure you will experience a relaxing and comfortable stay in this unspoilt resort.

This peninsular is probably the least explored area of Kefalonia, yet it possesses some of the islands most breathtaking scenery. There are picturesque villages with large old houses and churches nestled in the landscape, which is rich in vineyards and fruit trees. Along this western coast there are superb stretches of sandy shoreline and the most beautiful Petani beach. This easily matches the more famous Myrtos bay but it attracts far fewer visitors, making it a more tranquil option, even in the busier months. Further south you find Kipouria monastery perched directly above the cobalt blue sea at the top of a 90 metre precipice. The views here are magnificent with the waters of the Ionian appearing to stretch away for ever.

A regular ferry taking twenty five minutes, crosses the bay from Argostoli to Lixouri, or you may take the coast road which takes about forty minutes. A further ten minute drive and you will arrive in Vrahinari on the south west side of the Pali peninsular. The area is sparsely populated and is home mainly to Greek families with the occasional scattering of holiday villas. The family owners of these villas have their own taverna, also called Remetzo, a few minutes walk away. With home cooked traditional dishes, they produce their own wine and olive oil, what better way to compliment a meal. You will no doubt enjoy many evenings in such hospitable surroundings. Another taverna is 500 metres away and the wonderful horseshoe bay of Vatsas, with its sandy beach and taverna is adjacent to Vrahinari and 700 metres away. A temple dedicated to Poseidon was discovered here and part of the mosaic floor can be seen in the Argostoli museum.

Lixour is split into two parts by a seasonal stream and there are small bridges joining its southern and northern sections. The restored 19th century Iakovatos mansion is well worth a visit and contains antique furniture, a library with beautifully decorated ceilings, a museum with an extensive collection of ancient manuscripts and some very exceptional icons. You will find a wide choice of restaurants in the main square or the fascinating side streets leading from it. The long waterfront promenade is a perfect place for a stroll after you have enjoyed an evening meal.

There are two ferries which shuttle back and forth from Argostoli to Lixouri every half hour, (early May and late September every hour), until late evening. Bookings are not required and the fare is payable on board, in 2010 the cost each way was five Euros per car and two Euros per person.

VILLA MARIA

2 Bedroom

On the ground floor there are two bedrooms, one twin and one double, both with double wardrobe, air conditioning and wall mounted flat screen T.V. Opposite each there are two bathrooms, the main one with corner bath and shower attachment, the second with a shower. The kitchen,open plan to the living room, is fully equipped with a full fridge and cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster. The living room also air conditioned, is comfortably furnished with sofa, dining table and chairs, flat screen TV and DVD player. A steep wooden staircase from the living room leads up to a mezzanine level with air conditioning. Here there are two single beds and a chest of drawers (no wardrobe). As there is limited privacy from this bedroom to the sitting room, this property is not suitable for 6 adults There is direct access from the sitting room via french doors to the sun terraces and freshwater pool, with stunning uninterrupted views out to sea. A pergola along the front and one side offers shade, there is an outside table and chairs, and sunloungers.

VILLA KATERINA

1 Bedroom

Almost identical to Villa Maria but without the twin bedroom and shower room. Again this villa is probably not suitable for 4 adults due to lack of privacy from the mezzanine bedroom to the sitting room.

Car Included: Collection and delivery to the airport. Group B, 2/3 persons, Group C, 4 persons and above. Please note roof racks are not available and group B cars will take three suitcases and a group C, 4 suitcases. Infant and child seats are free and will be added where applicable. For parties of five or more you may need an additional car or taxi for transfers from the airport, please enquire.
