Assos is a picturesque small fishing village overlooked by the ruins of a Venetian fortress dating from 1595. The fortress commands breathtaking views of the western coast of Kefalonia and down as far as Myrtos beach. It is an ideal spot for birdwatchers and magnificent sunsets can also be viewed from this point. The village of around a hundred inhabitants contains some fine examples of Venetian architecture commonly found on Kefalonia before the devastation of the 1953 earthquake. The area around the horseshoe harbour with its pebble beach also serves as the main village square and is officially known as Paris Square. Poplar and plane trees provide wonderful shade and at springtime there are dazzling displays of tropical flowers around the little fishing port. Situated in the village and around the harbour are four tavernas, a bar, and a mini-market. Please note, there is not an ATM or money changing facilitiy in Assos, the nearest resort being Fiskardo, there is also an ATM at Kefalonia airport.

Of the few holiday properties in Assos, Apollonia is positioned in one of the most desirable locations, right on the edge of a beautiful sand and shingle beach. The resort offers several tavernas, one serving excellent fresh fish, a minimarket and a gift shop, so with no noisy bars or other activity, its appeal is obvious to those who desperately feel the need to relax and unwind for a week or so.

Vicky and Nikos, the proud owners of this property have tastefully created four comfortable studios, each with a verandah with stunning seaviews. On the first and second floor and also directly behind Apollonia, there are one, two and three bedroom apartments for accommodation only rental. These may be booked directly from their website, www.apartment-in-kefalonia.com, but not available through Greek Options.

Most buildings in Assos have conservation orders so it takes some thought and imagination to create such pleasant accommodation and you cannot fail to be impressed by its spectacular location on the waters edge.

The resort offers several tavernas, one serving excellent fresh fish, a minimarket and a gift shop, so with no noisy bars or other activity its appeal is to those who just wish to lie back and relax for a week or two. The twin bedded studios consist of an open plan kitchenette with a dining area and an en-suite bathroom with shower and verandah to the front. One step down from the verandah to a common path for access to each studio and the beach.

TRANSFERS

You will be met at the arrival airport by our representative, transfers to your accommodation will be by coach or taxi. If you wish to collect and return a car from the airport, there is a reduction of £20 per person.
